The details of Gisèle Pelicot’s case are so heinous they don’t bear repeating. Even as a survivor myself, I experience something almost adjacent to rubber necking, like after a car crash, when I hear about another person being victim to sexual violence. I want to look in and slow down - see what has happened and dissect the incident with my own eyes and ears. I’m not overly sure why, perhaps it’s my own way to show the victim that someone else knows what it feels like and that other people have been in their position.
