I Regret Not Coming Out 'Traditionally'

The moment I thought I needed to act out didn't happen - and in a bizarre way, I regret that, even if it didn't *need* to happen.

National Coming Out Day is coming up and in the run up to one of the more nuanced days of the year, I got to thinking about my experience of coming out.

For some people this might be the ideal scenario, but I didn’t ever really get the opportunity to ‘come out’ in the way that we often see it depicted in TV and film.

My sexuality was something that I was told I was rather than something I had understood within myself and then proclaimed to the world. In a way it made things easier - no one would’ve been shocked if i’d zipped up my One Direction pencil case, moved my straightened fringe out of my one eye like Gabrielle and stormed to the front of the classroom to announce I was in fact a homosexual.
